16.09.2005: Ehrenberg appointed as member of the Higher Valuation Board for Rhineland-Palatinate
Secretary for the Interior, Karl Peter Bruch, today appointed the members of the Higher Valuation Board, newly set up this year in Rhineland-Palatinate.
“With the opening up of the European market, more information is needed on the national real estate market in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Higher Valuation Board is a central contact point for investors and collects information from the local valuation boards”, explained Bruch. The legal framework for the setting up of the Valuation Board was put into place by the amendment to the Valuation Board Ordinance, dated 20th April 2005.
By setting up the Valuation Board, strong experience has been acquired from the successful interlinking of administrative and honorary appointments in the local valuation boards. Public servants of the state and municipalities could not match the degree of professional experience and practice-orientation of the 18 board members, Bruch continued.
In addition to the professional fields of architecture, building engineering, real estate, economics, agriculture and viniculture, science and research are also represented on the Board. Further, representatives from urban areas, and also from less densely populated areas have been selected, in order to introduce specialized knowledge of regional real estate markets into the Board, Bruch emphasized.
Around 100 applicants were prepared to perform the tasks associated with membership. “This indicates that the citizens of Rhineland-Palatinate are always prepared to participate for the common interest”, said the Secretary for the Interior. He is particularly pleased that the Board has two female real estate appraisers represented, in a very much male-dominated profession.

The State Office for Surveys and Geoinformation has also introduced its new brochure “How much is my real estate worth?” The brochure should inform citizens and public and private companies about the work carried out by the valuation board. It provides examples of real life situations in which information from valuation boards could be helpful, such as transport route studies, extracts from the site value atlas, information about schedules of purchase prices and real estate market reports. It also includes important contact information.
